Epidemiology is the study of the frequency and causes research_champ_lg1of disease in groups of people (Greek demos, the people). The Geriatric Epidemiology group is responsible for the Concord Health and Ageing in Men Project (CHAMP), an epidemiological study of health and disease in older men. CHAMP provides a platform to study a wide range of health related issues in older men. The investigators have skills in epidemiology, andrology, bone biology, dementia, geriatric medicine, rheumatology, biogerontology, nutrition and social science. CHAMP is a real bench to bedside to population study. The data is currently being used to study topics as diverse as the role of testosterone in the aetiology of dementia and identification of factors associated with social participation.
