Sydney Local Health District
The Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) is an area health district charged with the provision of public health services to the central Sydney metropolitan area. The research hub within the SLHD comprises the University of Sydney, the two principal tertiary facilities Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and Concord Repatriation General Hospital.

Concord Repatriation General Hospital
Concord Repatriation General Hospital is a principal referral facility and a teaching hospital of the University of Sydney. It offers a comprehensive range of specialty and sub-specialty services, many recognised nationally and internationally as centres of excellence. Major services provided include colorectal and laparoscopic surgery, gastroenterology, geriatrics and rehabilitation medicine, bone and joint services, cancer services, haematology, respiratory medicine and sleep studies, molecular biology and genetics, and those provided through the internationally acknowledged Statewide Burns Service, in which Concord plays a major part. Concord Hospital is part of the Sydney Local Health District.
The ANZAC Research Institute is not only located on the Concord Hospital campus, but also has strong ties to the Hospital. As the medical research institute for a major teaching hospital, each of the institute's major research groups are led by individuals heading or closely affiliated with Concord Hospital departments.
These strong, organic connections ensure that research is closely aligned with the priorities in understanding health and disease on which to base improvements in medical practice. This mandate drives the most appropriate research covering from basic discovery science to applied science in clinical, translational, public health and health services research.
This integration of active medical research is the most reliable guarantee of the highest standards of health and medical care in any modern major hospital. A medical research institute with high academic standing serves a Hospital by attracting top academic physicians, researchers and trainees from around the country and overseas.
